Mission & Reasoning
The Senior Project (SP) is an independent OR group project that showcases each student’s individual strengths and talents while integrating research skills, content knowledge, critical thinking, writing, and community building. Through the process of completing a SP, students will sharpen their ability to find, understand, evaluate, and synthesize information; apply new skills and knowledge to produce a unique and meaningful end product; and share their learning with an audience outside the school. The SP is a culmination and reflection of all skills and knowledge acquired during their high school experience with a meaningful focused end result. The SP is the highest form of authentic learning and the phases of the program take several months/possibly years (starting with some focus during sophomore and junior years), so students are encouraged to choose topics or ideas that will sustain their interest for such a long period of time.
